CULPEPER, VA –The Virginia Foundation for Research and Economic Education has released their 2005 General Assembly Evaluations and again Delegate Ed Scott (R-Madison) has been recognized as one of Virginia’s most “pro-business” Delegates.

In this year’s report, Delegate Scott’s pro-business rating was tied for second highest in the Virginia House of Delegates.  In 2004, Delegate Scott was awarded the highest business rating granted by Virginia FREE among all Delegates.

In their report, Virginia FREE applauds the General Assembly for its strong backing of issues that promote prosperity and enhance Virginia’s favorable business environment.

This non-partisan, independent business association noted Virginia’s favorable business climate and its position nationally as a well-governed, low-tax state.  Virginia’s attractiveness to business is important for our economic development and our future.

To evaluate legislators, Virginia FREE looked at voting records on a wide range of legislation, including bills on agribusiness, civil justice, insurance and taxes.  Delegate Scott was recognized for his voting record, his pro-business stewardship, and his effectiveness.

In reviewing this year’s Virginia FREE evaluation, Delegate Scott noted, “I am honored to have been consistently recognized for my pro-business approach and my efforts to create jobs.  As a local businessman, I understand that family farms and small businesses are the economic engine of the 30th District and the entire Commonwealth of Virginia.”
